4 1v1 Moves to Beat Defenders

In this instructional video, Coach Evren provides expert guidance on the four fundamental body fakes to beat defenders, including:

  • The first fundamental move is the scissor, which involves a big circle motion from in to out while keeping the foot low to the ground, mimicking cutting grass around the ball. This technique emphasizes moving your entire body to one side before pushing out in the opposite direction, allowing for an effective outside touch.
  • The second move is the side step. Instead of crossing in front of the ball, the side step keeps you behind it. By loading the movement and faking a push in one direction, you can create space to sidestep in the opposite direction, adding a snap for visual effect.
  • The step over move is the opposite of the scissor. By crossing one foot over the other while positioned around the ball, you can engage the defender’s attention. The execution should include a load up on the hips to sell the move convincingly before pushing the ball away.
  • The final move introduced is the hop. This technique involves hopping on one leg while bending slightly, maintaining the opposite foot in the air. The aim here is to create speed by dragging the ball and quickly pushing it out. Combining quick inside and outside movements enhances the effectiveness of this maneuver when executed properly.
