The United States Women’s National Team — now World Cup Champions — is currently taking a five-game victory lap around the United States. The first match against Ireland occurred on August 3 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. On August 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET, our World Champions will come to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA — not too far from Total Soccer’s Montgomery County soccer classes — to face off against Portugal for an international friendly match.
United States vs. Portugal – Match Details
This will be the fourth time the Women’s U.S. National Team visits the home of the Philadelphia Eagles, but it’s shaping up to be one of their most exciting appearances yet. Fans will be able to watch the matchup against Portugal live on ESPN2, and tickets went on sale the morning of July 31, 2019. You can even get a VIP package — called Ultimate Fan Tickets — that comes with custom-made U.S. soccer jerseys in addition to pregame field access.
What to Expect
This is a friendly soccer match, and the purpose is for the U.S. women to show appreciation to American fans who couldn’t make it to France for the World Cup. In other words, it’s unlikely that anyone on either squad will be playing their hardest, as there is little reason to risk injury in a friendly matchup. However, nobody expects the U.S. Women to simply let Portugal win, and nobody doubts that they want to put on a show for their fellow Americans. Regardless of the outcome, this matchup will be fun for all who attend.
